Texas Americana artist Amber Westerman released her new single, “Barefoot Days,” on January 16th, 2026, a rootsy, heart-forward song that dances around what happens when our souls get trapped inside four walls and endless screens. “Barefoot Days” was born from a radical contrast in Westerman’s own life. In her mid-twenties, she spent a few years as a full-time farmer and landscaper in Hawai’i, working barefoot in the soil every day, immersed in nature and far from the mainland’s rush. When she later moved to Nashville to pursue music, the shift into city life and corporate culture hit hard. The fluorescent lights, constant hustle, and pressure to always be “on” led to burnout and anxiety attacks for the first time in her life.

“I went from being barefoot in the soil and soaking up sunshine every day to breathing recycled air and faking smiles under fluorescent lights,” Westerman shares. “I realized that living to work and being indoors in constant high stress environments just was not for me. It stirred up a deep anxiety I had never felt before

and made me question why I am here and what ‘success’ even means if I have to lose myself to get it.”​​

Westerman’s new single holds a mirror up to a culture of overwork and overstimulation. It reawakens my inner child and reminds me I am allowed to feel, rest, play, and be human. My hope is that ‘Barefoot Days’ gives people at least few minutes of that same freedom.”
